As U.S. EMV conversion moves forward, a few challenges remain

There’s no question the U.S.’s conversion to EMV chip cards has been, and will continue to be, a significant undertaking. As with any transition of this magnitude, there are bound to be bumps along the way. While much of the heavy lifting associated with a successful EMV rollout has already been completed, there remain a few wrinkles to be ironed out in the coming months.

A recent paymentssource.com article explores a few of these lingering challenges. I’ve outlined some of them below.

  1. Some merchants slow to switch — Although, in my last blog post , I pointed out new statistics highlighting a 650-percent increase in merchants planning to be prepped for EMV by October, some retailers continue to stall. These holdouts are running the risk of not meeting the liability shift deadline.
