Cox Named NAFCU Director of Events and Education

WASHINGTON – National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Anthony Demangone announced today that Lisa Cox has been named director of events and education, effective immediately.

Cox will oversee NAFCU’s major educational events and the delivery of bi-weekly webcasts. NAFCU’s largest event, its Annual Conference & Exhibition, attracts thousands of industry participants.

Cox joined NAFCU in 2008 as associate director of events and education, where she developed educational program content and oversaw event operations for various conferences and webcasts. Cox left the association earlier this year to serve as director of event management for York Telecom Corporation.

“Lisa played a key role in delivering NAFCU conferences and webcasts that are both well-attended and highly regarded among credit union professionals,” said Demangone. “Her established knowledge of the credit union industry and insight will prove invaluable in developing innovative and informative programs in the future.”

Cox serves on the board of Groundwork Anacostia River D.C., a nonprofit dedicated to development of communities that border Washington, D.C.’s Anacostia River through environmental restoration.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree from American University.

NAFCU is the only national organization that focuses exclusively on federal issues affecting credit unions, representing its members before the federal government and the public.

When you say it’s too low to refinance, I assume you are referring to your credit score, and not your liquor supply. The whole purpose of credit scoring is to allow banks etc. to decide on who is or is not a good credit risk. If your score is too low, then I assume there is a reason for that. And if I’m right to this point, then inability to refinance is the consequence of poor credit. You may be placing the cart before the horse. Improving credit score is likely your best choice… which means you may not be eligible for loans until you put in some better performance. Most lending agencies will avoid lending to poor credit risks, based on past performance. Where loans are available, generally it’s at a much higher rate of interest… and that’s no fun.I hope I answered the question you asked. If it was actually a different question, then for 10 points, my answer to that would be … definitely maybe depending on your horoscope and caloric intake.

In addition to what others have said, “high interest rates” on relatively small loans with a relatively short repayment period (such as car loans) don’t make nearly as much difference as on large ticket items with a long repayment period (such as a mortgage). For example, if you owe $10,000 on your car with an interest rate of 8% and 3 years to repay, you will be paying about $313/month. If you owe the same amount, same repayment period, with an interest rate of half that, i.e., 4% you will be paying just over $295/month. Your “savings” from the “better” interest rate is just a little over $0.50 cents per day. There are a lot easier ways to save $0.50 cents per day than by trying to refinance your vehicle when your credit score won’t support a refinance. For example, drink tap water for one beverage per day rather than drinking coffee, tea, soda pop, or juice. That will save you more money than would refinancing the hypothetical vehicle in this example.

And “parc nellows”, last time I oeklod the democratic party didn’t seem to be ailing son. Parc nellows?!?! Just what are you smoking dude? You should be proud of the Democrats out spending the Republicans. Unless you think nominating Barack Obama was their supposed crime. No, it's their spending money like it's going out of style that is their true crime. They are out doing what the Republicans did. And as much as you hated when the Repubs did it you're now loving that the Dems are beating them at their own game. yanno what, Thoth, aka notalibby?union members build the ships the navy sails.union member build the planes the USAF and navy flies.union members build the humvees and abrams and other armored vehicles the army and marines drive.but unions have nothing to do with the shit between your ears. Kraut, you're the one with crap between your ears. I'm not notalibby, and if you had actually read my posts you would see that I said that I do support unions, and that they do have there place. However, just because some people are in a union it doesn't automatically grant them super powers. Most of the time they have learned there trade BEFORE they joined with a union. You guys are idiots for not reading what people are posting. Put down the kool aid, learn how to spell (Clif its fool, not foole) and take off your Party blinders. You guys are acting like baiting trolls.
