CFPB’s Cordray joins NAFCU’s 2014 Congressional Caucus Lineup

WASHINGTON (September 2, 2014) — The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) today announced that Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Richard Cordray has joined the growing list of distinguished speakers confirmed for the association’s 2014 Congressional Caucus, slated for Sept. 9-12 in Washington, D.C.

Cordray was named director of the CFPB in January 2012. In this role, Cordray has created an ongoing dialogue with NAFCU and its staff on the bureau’s activities and its impact on the credit union industry. He previously led the bureau’s enforcement division. Prior to joining the CFPB, he worked on consumer protection issues as Ohio’s attorney general.

  • Stuart Rothenberg, editor and publisher of the Rothenberg Political Report and columnist for Roll Call, who will deliver the keynote address;
  • Rick Metsger, NCUA Board member;

  • Ted Tozer, Ginnie Mae president;
  • Amias Gerety, U.S. Department of the Treasury acting assistant secretary for financial institutions;
  • Jason Furman, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers;
  • Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., member of the Senate Banking Committee;
  • Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Penn., member of the Senate Banking and Finance Committees;
  • Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., vice chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade;
  • Rep. Robert Hurt, R-Va., vice chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises;
  • Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo., vice chairman of the House Small Business Committee;
  • Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., member of the House Financial Services Committee;
  • Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., member of the House Financial Services Committee;
  • Rep. Ed Perlmutter, D-Colo., member of the House Financial Services Committee;
  • Rep. Ed Royce, RCalif., senior member of the House Financial Services Committee;
  • Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Calif., member of the House Financial Services Committee; and
