Charitable Giving Alive and Well at Affinity Plus

More than $7,800 will be donated to the American Red Cross to provide relief for those impacted by the tornadoes that devastated Moore, Okla.

ST. PAUL, MN (August 1, 2013) — Some may say that the recession didn’t have an impact on charitable giving from members at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union. Based out of St. Paul, Minn., members of the credit union haven’t waivered in their commitment to help those in need not only in their communities, but across the country.

Three days following the devastation caused by the tornados that ripped through Moore, Okla., Affinity Plus announced that they would be collecting donations of cash and Participation Rewards points in a relief fund that would be given to the American Red Cross to help provide food, water and relief supplies to those in need. In addition, Affinity Plus would be matching all donations up to $20,000. After collecting donations from May 23 to June 28, Affinity Plus is proud to announce that the total amount of donations collected was $3,916.07, and with the match, the total amount that will be donated is $7,832.14.

“What we want people to understand is that our commitment to changing the world one person at a time is inspired each and every day by our members. They’re the ones who came to us and asked us to open an account to collect their cash and Participation Rewards points donations for the people of Moore,” states Kyle L. Markland, President and CEO of Affinity Plus. “They truly exemplify the cooperative spirit of people helping people, and we’re proud to serve them and call them our members.”
