Credit Union West selected as one of the 2014 CareerBuilder® top companies to work for in Arizona
GLENDALE, AZ (September 29, 2014) — Credit Union West earned a spot on the list of the 2014 CareerBuilder® Top Companies to Work for in Arizona for a second year in a row. BestCompaniesAZ, in partnership with CareerBuilder and Republic Media, compiled the list of Top Companies using an employee questionnaire as well as employee engagement and satisfaction surveys. The surveys consisted of an in-depth set of 76 statements which employees responded on a 1 – 5 scale of ‘Disagree Strongly’ to ‘Agree Strongly’.
Quality candidates are more careful when choosing where to work and job satisfaction plays an important role in retention. “We have an employee engagement rate of over 90% [based on the AZ top companies survey]. You don’t find that often and it says a lot,” said Credit Union West’s Executive Vice President Karen Roch. “Role satisfaction, work environment and overall employee engagement were our top ratings.” The credit union has over 170 employees with 11 branches in Maricopa and Yavapai County as well as Business Services, Real Estate and their corporate office in Glendale. With staff in two counties, Roch said it’s important to maintain an ‘open door’ culture with a positive atmosphere. “People want to work at a place that takes care of their employees, has good working conditions, and overall makes them feel good about what they do,” she said.

Every year, they hold an off-site employee appreciation event where they highlight credit union ‘happenings’ and its future endeavors. “This [Top Companies] award conveys a great message,” Roch said. “It shows that Credit Union West is a stable company providing a stable and good work environment.”
