Dorris selected as NCUA’s Chief Information Officer

ALEXANDRIA, VA (March 23, 2015) — National Credit Union Administration Board Chairman Debbie Matz has announced the selection of Edward Dorris as the agency’s Chief Information Officer.

Dorris assumes his duties today.

“I am pleased to welcome Ed Dorris to NCUA,” Matz said. “The Chief Information Officer plays a critical role in any modern organization, and his 25 years of experience across the information technology field, coupled with his impressive list of accomplishments, makes him a very good fit for the agency. I am sure NCUA and the credit unions we regulate and insure will be well-served by having Ed on the team.”

Prior to joining NCUA, Dorris served as Chief Information Officer at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. He has held high-level positions in information technology relating to regulation, finance and human resources at the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Homeland Security. He has also worked as an independent consultant for both public and private-sector organizations.

Dorris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in general studies with an emphasis in information technology and computer science from American University in Washington, D.C.

NCUA is the independent federal agency created by the U.S. Congress to regulate, charter and supervise federal credit unions. With the backing of the full faith and credit of the United States, NCUA operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of more than 99 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the overwhelming majority of state-chartered credit unions. At MyCreditUnion.gov and Pocket Cents, NCUA also educates the public on consumer protection and financial literacy issues.
