Georgia United Credit Union awards $12,500 in scholarships to 13 Georgia students

DULUTH, GA (April 1, 2015) — Georgia United Credit Union (Georgia United) is proud to announce the recipients of its 2015 Georgia United Vernon E. Carne Scholarships and Archbishop John F. Donoghue Catholic Scholarships. Throughout March, $12,500 was awarded to the 13 high school students at their respective schools. 

Georgia United Vernon E. Carne Scholarship Winners

  • Samantha Smith:        Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell—$3,000
  • Jasmine Johnson:        Ola High School in McDonough—$2,000
  • Caroline Mangum:       Archer High School in Lawrenceville—$1,000
  • Stacia Dukes:               Heritage High School in Conyers—$500
  • Alexander Krakau:       Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell—$500
  • Crystal Sipp:                Heritage High School in Conyers—$500
  • Barrett Crowder:           South Forsyth High School in Cumming—$500
  • Lauren Rutledge:         Cleveland High School in Cleveland, TN—$500
  • Alicia Worthy:              Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur—$500
  • Emma Fullett:              South Forsyth High School in Cumming—$500
  • Taylor Thomas:                       Dodge County High School in Eastman—$500

Archbishop John F. Donoghue Scholarship Winners  

  • Ryan Kolakowski:         Wheeler High School in Marietta—$1,500
  • Marian Bornhorst:        Roswell High School in Roswell—$1,000

As part of the credit union’s commitment to assist its student-members in accomplishing their educational goals, Georgia United annually awards scholarships to exemplary high school students based on written essays, academic achievement, and community involvement.

Since the inception of its scholarship awards program 22 years ago, Georgia United has awarded over $157,000 in scholarships.  In addition to the scholarship awards, Georgia United also rewards exemplary student-members with cash for good grades through its “Pays for A’s” program.
