Greater Nevada announces new VP of Consumer Lending

CARSON CITY, NV (May 28, 2014) — As more and more borrowers choose Greater Nevada, the credit union has named Marcus Wertz as vice president of consumer lending. Wertz will utilize his experience and successful track record to oversee the continued expansion of Greater Nevada’s lending products and services.

Wertz began his career at Greater Nevada in 2002 as a loan servicing specialist.  Since then, he has held several positions in consumer lending including senior loan officer, loan servicing manager, dealer sales manager and consumer lending manager.  He holds a B.S. in Business Management from Corban University, is a graduate of Western CUNA Management School, and is a member of the CUNA Lending Council.

Greater Nevada’s Chief Operating Officer, Dean Altus, said:  “Marcus has certainly earned this promotion.  Over the last three years his teams has improved their consumer loan production by over 100% and have continued that momentum through the first quarter of 2014.”

Wertz says that in his new role he will continue to focus on maintaining Greater Nevada’s strong service oriented reputation and competitive edge by continuously looking for new products and services. He is especially interested in those that can better assist new generations of borrowers.

“Younger people are more cautious about getting into debt,” says Wertz. “They want financing solutions that help them build credit and wealth, not just provide instant gratification. Our team has done a good job of ensuring that our loans and processes are helping members realize those goals. I think it’s that level of service that keeps the business and referrals coming.”

Greater Nevada is headquartered in Carson City, Nevada and has been serving northern Nevada since 1949. The credit union has more than 45,000 members and $475 million in assets, and has been consistently voted Best Financial Institution in most of its service areas.  Since 2008, Greater Nevada has also been recognized in the Reno/Tahoe Best Places to Work Awards.
