Montgomery County EFCU welcomes UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO as new selection association group
Labor Organization’s Affiliation with MC EFCU Entitles All of Its Members to Join Credit Union
GERMANTOWN, MD (September 16, 2014) — Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union (MC EFCU), a Montgomery County, Maryland.-based full-service financial institution, recently received approval from the National Credit Union Administration to add the labor association UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, AFL-CIO as a Select Association Group, which will provide the opportunity for all interested UFCW Local 1994 members to join the credit union.
MC EFCU, which primarily serves Montgomery County government employees, along with members from a variety of other local public sector agencies and other select employer groups, has enjoyed substantial growth over the past five years. The credit union recently surpassed $100 million in total assets, as its assets grew 38 percent from June 30, 2009 to June 30, 2014, compared to a 7 percent growth period for the previous five years.
“We’re delighted to welcome the members of UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, AFL-CIO as prospective members of the Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union, as well,” said Jim Norris, CEO of MC EFCU. “Although many UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO members may already be credit union members – particularly those who are Montgomery County government employees – the approval of the organization as a Select Association Group will now allow for all of their members to join the credit union and reap the benefits of membership.”
