Provident Credit Union promotes Heart Health with donation to the American Heart Association
REDWOOD SHORES, CA (September 29, 2014) — Provident Credit Union (PCU), a leading provider of financial services and promoter of health awareness, raised $33,000 for the 2014 American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk, which took place in Marine View Park near Oracle on September 17, 2014. A total of 25 employees participated in the event.
The American Heart Association’s (AHA) mission includes building healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. It is a nationwide organization with 144 local offices and nearly 2,700 employees. Its overall goal is to improve the lives of all Americans by providing public health education in a variety of ways. The Heart Walk celebrates those who have made changes in their lifestyles to become healthier and also to raise funds for life-saving research and initiatives in the local community. Participation in a Heart Walk event demonstrates taking a stand against heart disease and can help save lives.
Maria Olson, Senior Vice President of the American Heart Association of the Greater Bay Area noted that, “Provident Credit Union is committed to encouraging a healthy lifestyle and walking is one of the easiest forms of physical activity. They helped move our mission and raised more than $33,000 during this Heart Walk season.” And Wayne Bunker, President/CEO of Provident Credit Union, said “Our Heart Walk team did a terrific job this year. We have been supporting this fundraiser for a number of years and this Heart Walk team set a new Provident record in raising $33,000 for a great cause.”
