PSECU raises $6,200 through participation in 2014 Capital Region Heart Walk

HARRISBURG, PA (September 24, 2014) — PSECU employees participated in the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association’s 2014 Capital Region Heart Walk on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at City Island. Team PSECU was comprised of 65 individuals, including PSECU employees and their family members and friends. This year’s team for the Capital Region Heart Walk raised $6,200.The credit union has been involved with AHA for over a decade through their participation in both the Capital Region Heart Walk and the Centre County Heart Walk.

Participation in the Heart Walks, however, is only a portion of the support that PSECU provides to the American Heart Association. PSECU supports AHA’s Go Red initiative by sponsoring and participating in the Go Red Luncheons in the Capital Region, Lehigh Valley and Lancaster County. In addition, PSECU’s Vice President of Marketing, Barb Bowker, serves as Vice Chair of the American Heart Association Great Rivers Affiliate Board of Directors and last year served as Chair of the 2013 Capital Region Heart and Stroke Walk.

PSECU’s support of the American Heart Association does not only have an impact locally. The credit union recently committed to a three-year sponsorship of the American Heart Association, which will provide funds for several key initiatives including Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Grants, CPR Anytime Training, Red Dress Movement, You’re The Cure Advocacy, Get with the Guidelines and Reaching Youth. These initiatives allow for PSECU’s support of the American Heart Association to reach not only our local communities, but also communities throughout the state of Pennsylvania and the country.

Opened in 1934, PSECU was founded by twenty-two ordinary people who made an extraordinary commitment to each other: To create a financial institution where pooled resources benefit all members.  Today, we are a full-service credit union serving more than 400,000 members and have more than $4 billion in assets. As a not-for-profit financial institution, our goal remains to help our members and their families achieve a better life.
