Rivermark Community Credit Union’s Gresham Branch first in Oregon to offer interactive technology

BEAVERTON, OR (October 28, 2014) — Rivermark Community Credit Union opened its new technology-driven branch in Gresham Station on Monday, October 27. The new location is a transformation from a traditional branch into a Member Resource Center that provides the most advanced technology in banking. This will be the first time a credit union or bank in Oregon has adopted the latest next-generation video teller technology. The new branch features include:

  • Live Personal Teller Kiosks:Video conferencing with Rivermark staff (tellers and loan officers) via a secure connection and options for private meeting rooms. The interactive tellers will be able to assist with the majority of transactions currently offered by in-person tellers with the added benefits of speed, accuracy and extended hours. The new video technology allows branch staff more time to help members with more advanced financial service needs using new Lenovo Yoga Laptops.
  • Technology Bar:  The bar hosts multiple devices (iPhones, iPads, Androids, tablets, etc.) preloaded with Rivermark’s online banking apps. These apps provide members access to all of its banking services including opening new accounts, scheduling appointments and live chat, with user-friendly demonstrations.
  • Digital Wall: A large (11’ diagonal display) interactive screen. It will be used for several reasons such as educating members on the latest technology tips, community involvement, highlighting products & services and profiling the staff. (This will be viewable from the street.)
  • Extended Hours: A portion of the branch, called a Transaction Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The walk-up ATM will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This will be the first lobby installation in a Rivermark branch and there are plans to extend this model to other branch locations in 2015.

“Credit union members and bank customers want the best of both worlds – online and in-person access,” said Scott Burgess, President/CEO, Rivermark Community Credit Union. “We recognize that members visit our branches less often and prefer online and remote access services. However, they still expect access to personal and local service when they need it. With our online and in-branch technology investments, Rivermark members can conduct transactions, get financial advice, and open new accounts – when, where and how they want.”

Rivermark was also the first credit union in Oregon to offer Mobile Deposit, allowing members to deposit paper checks remotely using their phone, tablet or PC. Since introducing Mobile Deposit in March 2012, members have deposited over $154 million using their mobile devices. In fact, Mobile Deposit accounted for 25% of all paper checks that Rivermark processed in 2013. “Those efficiencies translate into more time and money for our members, and it’s also extremely efficient for Rivermark,” continued Burgess.

Investing in Gresham
“We’re proud Rivermark Community Credit Union chose Gresham to launch its first branch with a ‘technology bar’ and extended hours for customers. This innovation fits perfectly with the great story people are learning about our community: That we are actively enhancing the economic vitality of our area,” said Gresham Mayor Shane Bemis. “From hiring employees that contribute to the community with volunteerism, to providing a modern-looking storefront and the latest technology, businesses such as Rivermark bring us closer to our vision of a renewed Gresham.”
