Sb1 Federal Credit Union Invites & Impacts the Community

PHILADELPHIA, PA. (February 25, 2013) – Sb1 Federal Credit Union, a Philadelphia based credit union with over $550 million in assets, adds its first street-level community branch in the heart of Philadelphia. Sb1 chose to dedicate this year to serving the community through a mission which includes aligning the brand with colleges, collaborating with community ambassadors and events, and working towards creating financial education programs to assist its community. Not only did current and prospective members enjoy food, games, and prizes, the event captured the essence of this year’s mission through an autograph signing by former NBA star and Philadelphia 76ers’ Community Ambassador, World B. Free, as well as a $1,500 check presentation to the Coalition Against Hunger, an organization dedicated to combating hunger in Philadelphia.

Community involvement is a core component of Sb1’s business development and marketing strategies. To kick off the year, Sb1 announced student scholarships to help further education, and paired with an area university to sponsor basketball games in efforts to share the benefits of a credit union with students.

Healthy and accessible banking is something that is essential to people of all ages. The grand opening event introduced a special share certificate promotion to aid healthy savings habits.

The grand opening event not only declared Sb1’s presence in the community, it also ushered the credit union into an era where it not only serves its members, but also its community.
