Scott Credit Union Donates $7,500 To Support March Of Dimes

Collinsville, Illinois – Scott Credit Union recently signed on with the March of Dimes to be the presenting sponsor for this year’s Metro East March for Babies walks in Madison and St. Clair Counties.

Scott Credit Union Community Relations Supervisor Ashleigh Deatherage presented a check for $7,500 to Community Director of the March of Dimes Greater Missouri Chapter Kaitlin Wood and March of Dimes Division Director Missy Tillman.

The check represented SCU’s $7,500 sponsorship of this year’s walks at the Gateway Grizzlies Ballpark and in Edwardsville.

This year’s March of Dimes St. Clair County walk will be held May 11 at Gateway Grizzlies Ballpark in Sauget. The Madison County walk will be held April 20 starting at Lincoln Middle School in Edwardsville.

The March of Dimes’ mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health, including prematurity, birth defects, low birth weight.

“We were excited about the opportunity to help the March of Dimes in their efforts,” Deatherage said. “It is our way of showing our support of the work March of Dimes does to help improve the health of babies.”

“Credit unions are really about helping people and this is a perfect way for us to take that even a step further,” she added.
