SECU’s charitable efforts deliver more than $79,000 to North Carolina non-profits

RALEIGH, NC (March 27, 2015) — At the 2014 State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) Statewide Recognition Reception held at the Governor’s Executive Mansion this week, State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) employees and members were honored with three awards in appreciation of their generous support. Serving as Campaign volunteers and participating contributors, SECU personnel donated more than $79,000 to benefit various charities. SECU members, via the SECU Foundation, complemented employee giving by providing funding for the annual SECC Giving Guide, assuring more contributions reach the needs of North Carolina’s citizens and communities.

“Yet again, State Employees’ Credit Union has come through as a true champion of the State Employees Combined Campaign,” remarked SECC Director Mary Paisley. “With employee contributions of more than $79,000, along with SECU Foundation’s funding for the annual Giving Guide, the Credit Union is SECC’s most generous Campaign partner. The SECC is a trusted and efficient way to support one’s favorite charity and we thank all SECU employees and members who made a pledge to the 2014 Campaign.”

The State Employees Combined Campaign has been providing both active and retired North Carolina State employees a simple and convenient way to donate to a wide variety of charities since 1984. For years, SECU members and employees have participated in the Campaign to help non-profits provide services ranging from senior citizen programs, to research and prevention of diseases, to programs that nurture children. SECU participants are fueled by the philosophy of helping others, investing back into the local communities and creating a positive social and economic impact.

Jimmy Goodrum, State Employees’ Credit Union Senior Vice President of Member Education and Outreach commented, “Credit Union employees’ dedication to volunteering and charitable giving emphasize their understanding and belief in the value of helping others. We are glad to participate in this statewide Campaign supported by North Carolinians who devote their time and energy each year, raising millions of dollars for community services provided by local charities.”
