“Tips & Tools for Back-to-School” grand prize winner selects Perrywood Elementary School for Educational Systems Federal Credit Union’s $1,000 donation

GREENBELT, MD (November 20, 2014) — Educational Systems Federal Credit Union recently wrapped up its “Tips & Tools for Back-to-School” sweepstakes. The Grand Prize Winner, Dollye Simmons, selected Perrywood Elementary School in Prince George’s County to receive a $1,000 donation provided by the Credit Union. Throughout the six-week contest, the Credit Union also awarded six $100 Visa® Gift Cards to help participants with back-to-school shopping.

“Educational Systems FCU is proud to support education each and every day,” commented Chris Conway, President/CEO. “The ‘Tips & Tools for Back-to-School’ promotion provided a forum through the Credit Union’s Facebook page for the education community to provide tips to help students and educators achieve success throughout the new school year.”

Simmons’ winning entry included ways for parents, teachers and students to keep things running smoothly in the classroom and at home. Simple things like parents meeting their child’s teacher at the beginning of the year, teachers encouraging students with daily affirmations and students coming to school prepared with sharpened pencils.

“Winning this contest is a big deal for me and our school,” shared Dollye Simmons, a fourth grade math teacher at Perrywood. “The extra funds will go a long way toward purchasing additional items that will enhance our students’ learning experiences throughout the year!” The presentation of the Grand Prize was made during the “Student Honor Roll” assembly for the fourth graders at Perrywood Elementary. Principal, Carolyn Poole, happily accepted the donation saying that “teachers, students and parents will help determine how the money will be spent.”

For nearly 60 years, Educational Systems FCU has been serving the education community.  With $750 million in assets and 11 branches, the Credit Union serves nearly 90,000 members in seven school systems and three community colleges throughout Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George’s, St. Mary’s and Talbot counties.
