XDI Cooks Up First Annual $10,000 Credit Union Chili Challenge
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 10, 2013) Xpress Data, Inc. (XDI) is cooking up a truly unique event solely for credit unions to not only exhibit the fine art of creating a tasty bowl of chili but to increase public awareness of the fact that credit unions are charity and community supporters. Dubbed the “Xpress Data, Inc. Credit Union Chili Challenge”, XDI’s appetizing event – sanctioned by the International Chili Society – takes place at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack in Del Mar, CA, August 3, 2013.
Credit unions from California, Arizona and Nevada are invited to compete for trophies, bragging rights, and a minimum of $10,000 in prize money that will be donated to charities chosen by the first, second and third place winners. The credit union chili team finishing in first place also qualifies to compete in the Homestyle Division of the 47th Annual International Chili Society World’s Championship Chili Cookoff in Palm Springs, CA, October 11-13, 2013.
“The credit union industry has never experienced an event like this before,” states Mike Cooper, President/CEO of XDI. “We see it as an ideal venue to display – and taste – some fantastic chili recipes but also help spread the word about the value of credit unions to thousands of consumers at a very popular venue in Southern California – the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack. It will be a very good time.”
Participating credit unions can enter teams having a Chief Cook and up to three assistants. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place chili – along with best booth decoration and best chili team showmanship. The cost of the event is being underwritten by XDI so that all of the proceeds raised can be donated to credit union supported charities.
