Successfully meeting your goals

Why do we so often fail to meet our own goals? Numerous reports have shown that most people who set goals or resolutions at the beginning of the year rarely meet those goals. In fact, many people often give up or become derailed in this effort early in the year.

A Harvard Business Review blog post says many years of research suggest that some people come up short on their goals not because of who they are, “but more often because of what they do.” Blog post author Heidi Grant Halvorson explains nine things successful people do differently that helps them meet their goals:

  1. Be as specific as possible in setting goals.
  2. Be aware of those moments when you can act on goals – don’t miss opportunities because of your busyness.
