One of my favorite aspects of working in the credit union industry is the unparalleled commitment to giving back to our communities. Perhaps nothing embodies that commitment more than the Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) Wine Auction – a time-honored tradition that, for the last fifteen years, has helped raise more than $9.8 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) in California and Nevada. Last year COVID-19 forced the event virtual; however, that didn’t stop over sixty credit unions and service organizations from raising more than $1 million for our local hospitals. With the next virtual auction taking place on March 12th – we’re hoping we can surpass that goal.
In addition to CO-OP serving as the Presenting Sponsor, I decided to get more involved in the cause this year as a Co-Chairman for the event because I believe the work we are doing is more important than ever. With hospitals around the country continuing to battle and keep us safe against the pandemic, I believe it is incumbent on all of us to help support them in any way we can.
CO-OP has had a long-standing relationship with CMNH through our Miracle Match Network. The name is fitting because the work they do for our local communities, and particularly sick children, is nothing short of miraculous, especially in times like these. Events like the CU4Kids Wine Auction are a unique opportunity to recognize and celebrate that important work – and to have some fun in the process.
