10 Labor Day weekend travel deals

Your hopes of squeezing in one last vacation this summer may just become a reality, and at a great deal no less.

According to travel app Hopper, round-trip flight prices for Labor Day Weekend 2018 are the cheapest they’ve been in four years.

Prices will start to go up $10 to $15 a day starting Aug. 17. Those interested in a getaway will save the most money by leaving on Saturday, Sept. 1 and returning later in the week between Tuesday, Sept. 4 and Thursday, Sept. 6. If you don’t want to fly on Saturday, Hopper suggests moving your departure date up to earlier in the week, sometime between Tuesday, Aug. 28 and Wednesday, Aug. 29.

There are other ways travelers can cut costs. For example, Consumer Reports suggests researching SeatGuru.com before paying for an upgraded seat. Users can enter the flight number and departure time and see detailed information that includes legroom, whether your seat reclines and window views. In addition, baggage fee discounts are possible on budget airlines that charge fees for extras, but only at the time you book your flight. Wait until you get to the airport and you could pay more.

In general, some of the best prices this Labor Day weekend can be found for cities in Florida and the rest of the Southeastern coast.
