2020 America Saves Week recap – so what?

America Saves Week is a weeklong event that occurs annually in February and a national call to action encouraging Americans to review their financial habits and make a commitment to saving. The program also advocates for participants to take their pledge and create a plan to save! America Saves provides many helpful resources for organizations to share and assist people in reaching their financial goals.

“Credit unions were created to help people live a better financial life,” Foundation Executive Director Gigi Hyland said. “America Saves Week provides an opportunity for our movement to further encourage members to develop healthy savings habits. The National Credit Union Foundation was proud to be a part of this week that strengthens credit union members’ financial literacy through savings, fosters stronger financial futures and uplifts communities.”

America Saves Week began with “Saving Automatically”, which is the easiest way for people to save. Setting up an automatic transfer for anything from an emergency fund to future vacation allows people to not have to think about saving. Resources on saving automatically:
