2022 advocacy priorities and the Department of Defense

DCUC’s advocacy campaign was already in high gear prior to the GAC, and we have only accelerated as we roar into Q2! It began as we prepared for our Defense Matters Broadcast and Brunch, where we highlighted many of the bills and regulations we are actively monitoring in the 117th Congress, along with the NCUA’s 2022 Supervisory Priorities, and emerging concerns throughout the Department of Defense. Our advocacy initiatives and focus areas indicate a very busy year with lots of legislative and regulatory issues.

In terms of the Department of Defense, we recently met at the Assistant Secretary Level for both the Army and the Air Force and Space Force, and look forward to meeting with the Navy and Marine Corps next. These meetings are very important as several issues have lingered throughout the pandemic and still need resolution.

Whenever we meet with DoD officials, it is important to foot stomp that everything we do is in support of our military and veteran communities, no matter which credit union they join!. Each of our member credit unions is focused on building and serving the financial readiness of those who faithfully serve and have served our great nation. Our message to DoD is that we “speak military” and are ready, willing, and able to translate servicemember requirements into credit union products and services
