3 benefits of giving money away

Americans gave away an estimated $373 billion to charities in 2015. A number that size shows you how important it is to give. What causes are important to you? Are you giving to those charities? I encourage you to find a cause that’s close to your heart and make a donation. If you’re not already supporting a charity, here are 3 reasons why you should start.

It’ll make you happy

We could all use a little more happiness in our lives. Giving is a great way to accomplish that. When you give your money away your body releases endorphins that can produce a “helper’s high.” Not only will it make you feel better, but you’ll be helping someone less fortunate, and that’s sure to make that person a little happier too.

It’ll make you grateful

Sometimes it’s really easy to overlook the opportunities we’ve been given. We grow up with so many advantages and after a while you can take those things for granted. By giving back, it helps to make you mindful of what you have, and gives you a better understanding of those who don’t have the same luxuries that we’ve been given.

It’ll make you a good example

There’s nothing better than passing on positive traits to younger generations. By setting an example of giving with your children or grandchildren, you’re helping make the next generation aware of the issues of this world, and creating a desire to make a positive difference. If you’d like to give but don’t know who to give your money to, start here.
