3 reasons home buyers won’t be interested in your house

When it’s time to sell your home, you can only hope for a quick and easy process. Unfortunately, the fish aren’t biting. What’s the deal? If you’re having trouble selling your house, here are three possible reasons why…

Too much carpet: Sure, you have a nice home but carpet sure is a hassle. Having carpet in a bedroom or two is one thing, but if your home has carpet all over, this may be why you’re having trouble selling. Carpet is known for being the headquarters of stains, odors, and allergens, so if you want to sell your home fast, get rid of that carpet and upgrade to hardwoods or even laminate ASAP.

Weird colors: Years ago, you let your daughter paint her room. You also let her pick out the paint. While hot pink made her happy for a few years, it’s probably not going to be very appealing to anyone who’s looking at your house. Prospective buyers will appreciate finding a home that’s not going to take a lot of work before being move-in ready, so do them a favor and paint over any walls with odd colors.

It’s what’s on the outside that counts: You can make the inside of your home pristine and attractive, but you’re not going to be able to show it off unless you can convince a buyer to actually pull into your driveway. Hopefully you have a nice yard that you’ve been able to enjoy, but if you’re not much of an outdoors person, you may want to take a quick glance at what you’re working with. How does your yard look? Do you have nice grass? Could it use some weed killer or a touch of color? Most people like a good-looking yard, so be mindful of yours before you put your house on the market.
