3 ways to get yourself going

Do you have days when you just can’t get things moving in the right direction? You’re definitely not alone. Everyone experiences these feelings from time to time, and sometimes it’s hard to get moving. Here are three ways you can get yourself going when you’re not feeling it…

Focus on what you’re good at: Even if you don’t love everything about your job, there are probably a few things you’re pretty darn good at. Try focusing on completing those things and use that momentum to power your way through the less enjoyable stuff.

Start a routine: Find ways to plan out your schedule in way that suits you each day, and then do it that way again and again. If you keep doing things a certain way, it’ll get easier to get in a groove.

Toss the distractions: You may see your email or your smartphone as a welcome break throughout the day, but for some of us, those distractions can kill any momentum we’ve built. If you can’t easily get back to work after losing focus, you may want to think about setting your phone across the room and planning out some times during the day to check your email. There are numerous things in your office that could be a distraction, so think about what those are for you and eliminate them as best you can.
