4 smart home devices that will change your life

As the internet of things (IoT) continues to take over the world, more and more inventions are being created to help make your life easier. Here’s a look at 4 devices that will make your home more awesome.

Amazon Echo

The Amazon Echo was first introduced in November 2014 and can now be found in several different forms. The smaller Amazon Echo Dot comes in at about 28% the cost of the original, and the portable, battery powered Amazon Tap is also an option. The Echo isn’t just a wireless speaker, but a personal assistant (named Alexa), a remote control, and more. According to Amazon, the Echo “answers questions, reads audiobooks and the news, reports traffic and weather, gives info on local businesses, provides sports scores and schedules, and more using the Alexa Voice Service.”

Nest Thermostat

The Nest Learning Thermostat has been around since 2011 and has been helping people live in comfort and save money since day 1. The thermostat learns your habits and adjusts the temperature in your home accordingly. If you like it cooler overnight, the Nest Thermostat will quickly learn that and automatically adjust the temperature as you’re getting ready for bed. It can also track you via GPS, and will keep your home at a more cost-effective temperature when you’re away. Nest also offers smart smoke alarms and security cameras that can all work together to keep you and your family safe.

BeON Home

BeON Home will keep you and your loved ones safe with its smart lighting system. BeON Home will learn your lighting patterns and can repeat them when you’re not home. The lights can also be programmed to respond to a ringing doorbell, turn on when a smoke detector goes off, and every bulb is equipped with smart batteries than can provide up to 5 hours of light in case of a power outage.

Rachio

The smart sprinkler controller known as Rachio is way more than just an on/off switch for your ourdoor sprinkler system. Rachio “gives you control of your sprinklers and watering bill, right from your smart phone.” It also monitors the weather, and will adjust your watering schedule if rain is in the forecast. To date, Rachio has saved more than a billion gallons of water and can be integrated with other platforms like Amazon Echo and Nest.
