4 things leaders should do differently in 2017

Zoom in on the big picture

For your team, it’s great to have a big picture vision at the end of the road, but make sure you don’t lose sight of the small milestones that help you get there. Celebrate not only big wins but the smaller ones as well. Without these victories, you’ll never get to the end of the road.

Communicate well

There are a lot of bad communicators out there, and we all can fall into this category from time to time. Try to be more approachable and available to your staff in 2017. Find a balance between being too hands on and too hands off. Being a good communicator will have a huge impact on your team and how they work together to get results.

Applaud innovation

Breakthroughs won’t happen unless your team is given the greenlight to be creative and try new things. As Robert F. Kennedy once said, “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”

Give feedback

Your employees can’t improve if they don’t know that they’re making mistakes. You don’t have to micro-manage to provide timely feedback and give your team the opportunity to grow in the right direction.
