4 things that are keeping your members from trusting you

Are there trust issues with your credit union? Have you given your members a reason to trust you? Sometimes loyalty doesn’t come easy. If you’re having trouble getting your members to trust you, here are a few reasons why they may not be on board.

Social Media: You probably have a presence on a number of social media platforms. Are you doing a good job handling communication on all of these pages? Spend some time reviewing your social pages and make sure you respond to comments and questions in a timely and effective manner. Social media is a big deal to consumers these days and it should be a big deal to you.

Employees: Some people were born to work with the public. Every employee won’t be perfect, but you should aim to hire employees who enjoy working with people and enjoy spending their time helping members solve problems. Don’t let a grumpy employee chase members away.

Needs: If your members aren’t getting the products and services they need, it’s probably because you’re not listening. Give your members the chance to give feedback about what they need from you, then present them with products and services that are relevant. Show them how you can help, instead of just taking their deposits.

Technology: As Boomers and Gen Xers are getting older, Gen Y and Gen Z are the demographics who are starting to make more and more money moves. Millennials are beginning to buy houses, have families, buy minivans and realize the need for life insurance. And Gen Z is right on their tails. These groups are very tech-savvy, and you need to be where they are. Don’t just have a mobile app, have a great one. The younger generations enjoy being able to do all their banking with their smartphone and if you’re not on board, you’re going to get left behind. You won’t see these groups walk in the door of your branch very often.
