4 things you should always travel with

If you only travel a few times a year, it might take some time to consider yourself a travelling expert. I am by no means an expert on travelling, but I have put a lot of thought into having a well-stocked suitcase. If you want to avoid having to find a Walgreen’s at 10 pm in an unfamiliar city, here are a few things you should always have on hand.

Water bottle: A business trip usually consists of a few days in a hotel and countless hours in an airport. Unless you want to spend a fortune at restaurants and drink machines, you should always travel with a water bottle. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been settling into my hotel room and been forced to drink water from the bathroom sink. Carry your empty bottle through security and then remember to top it off anytime you see a water fountain.

First aid kit: I have a small travel-size first aid kit that never leaves my carry-on bag. Although tiny, it’s big enough to hold a few band-aids, gauze, tape, and antiseptic ointment. There’s even enough room in mine to put an extra pair of eye contacts.

Travel-size everything: When I’m travelling, I absolutely hate having to pack toiletries. So, I don’t. I have travel-size versions of everything and just replace them when they run out. A cheap, foldable toothbrush is nice to use for one or two trips and then just throw away.

Flip flops: I keep a pair of cheap flip flops in the outer zipper of my carry-on bag, and it’s the greatest thing to have when you’re in a hotel. If you have to run down to the lobby or ice machine, it stinks to have to put your shoes on just to make the trip.
