4 ways technology can help you save

We all love technology. Even if you’re an old curmudgeon who’s set in their ways, there are technological advancements that make your life easier. And it gets better. Here are four ways technology can help you save a few bucks…

Smartphones apps: There are a ton of apps available that can save you money. There are apps that will help you monitor your budget, find travel discounts, find the cheapest gas prices, as well as loyalty apps that will help you earn rewards for money you’re going to spend anyway.

Doing everything online: All the best deals are online. This was true before COVID. Sure Black Friday used to be great, but who knows if that’ll ever be the same again. If you’re still mailing checks to pay bills, you’re spending money on checks and postage and that’s wasting money. Pay it online!

Get a smarter thermostat: I’ve been “thinking” about buying a smart thermostat for a long while now. A smart thermostat will learn when you leave your house and will adjust your heating or AC accordingly. It will also learn what time you normally get home and readjust the temperature for your arrival. Yes it does seem a little too smart, but you have to decide if the savings benefits outweigh the creepiness.

Only pay for what you watch: This isn’t my standard cut the cord tip. This is aimed at those who have already cut it. Now you have to decide what streaming platform is right for you. Sure you could get 4 or 5 different ones and still be paying less than cable, but if you really want to win, go a step further. Find a platform with multiple shows you’re interested in, subscribe until you’ve binged them all, and then move on to the next subscription. A couple months here, a couple months there. Now you’re getting to enjoy the benefits of multiple streaming platforms without paying for all of them at the same time. You’re welcome.
