5 reasons you should love summer

To me, there’s nothing better than flip flops and shorts. While I love that fall brings football season, milder temperatures, and beautiful scenery, nothing beats warm weather for me. If you’re not really into 90-degree weather, I understand, but here are some reasons you should appreciate the summer while it’s here.

You get more Vitamin D: Vitamin D has tons of health benefits, including promoting healthy bones and possibly preventing some types of cancer. There is no easier way for your body to get Vitamin D, than to soak up a little sun. So, take advantage of the warm weather and get outdoors.

You’re more active: When it’s cold out, we tend to feel like we’re hibernating unless we’re hitting the gym daily. In summer, it’s easy to get outside and go for a hike, jump in the pool, or toss the ball around with your kids. We feel better when we’re active, so take advantage of the weather because fall will be here before you know it.

You’re happier: We’re usually more social in the summer, with all the cook-outs and birthday parties at the pool. Being around people is good for your mood, and the summer is a great time to host your friends and family and enjoy their company in the great outdoors. Plus, summer means vacation. That’s something to be happy about.

You detox better: You can work up a good sweat in December. Hit the gym, and an hour later you’ll be glistening for sure. But other than working out every day, you’re probably not working up a sweat very often in the colder seasons. Summer is great because when you leave the house, before the AC in your car is cold, you’ll probably be sweating. Now this isn’t always ideal, but a natural detox is never a bad thing.

You eat healthier: If you’re one who loves grilling in the summer, you’re probably eating lots of grilled or smoked meats. But when you’re not grilling, the last thing you want to eat in summer is hot or heavy foods. Summer is a great time to eat lighter fare and buy fresh fruit as often as you like.
