The 5 T’s of CUNA Technology Council Conference and CUNA Operations & Member Experience Council Conference

Co-located in Phoenix this October, CUNA Technology Council Conference and CUNA Operations & Member Experience Council Conference are a truly one-of-a-kind chance for professionals in credit union technology, operations, sales, security and service to connect with peers and discover ways to innovate in their roles.

People attend these conferences for so many different reasons, but when I’m asked by colleagues why they should attend, I refer to what I like to call “The Five T’s.”

Trends

So much is changing in the credit union movement right now that it’s hard to process all of it while it’s happening. Fortunately, these conferences let professionals pause, step back and critically evaluate the latest developments in the industry.

Payments systems. Member service. Cybersecurity. Sales management. Topics like these with real impact on credit unions and their capacity to succeed are the focus of the conferences’ expert-led breakout sessions.

Talks

Bookending the conference are speakers with unique, unconventional perspectives on what it means to succeed in 2017.

Jason Dorsey, millennial expert, and best-selling author, will kick off the conference with a keynote address about bridging the gap between the different generations (Millennials, Gen X-ers, baby boomers) on your credit union’s staff.

Closing the conference is magician and entrepreneur Vinh Giang, whose closing keynote will use the metaphor of illusions to show how perspective is key to overcoming personal and professional challenges.

Talent

Both CUNA Technology Council and CUNA Operations & Member Experience Council will present their annual awards at their respective conferences, giving attendees the opportunity to hear real-life stories of excellence in their field and honor professionals who have pushed boundaries.

Transformation

Vendors are one of the great drivers of innovation in the credit union movement, inventing new technologies (and leveraging existing ones) to help credit unions achieve their goals.

You’ll see this firsthand in the conferences’ Speed Round competition, where vendors have just five minutes each to demonstrate a new product before a live audience, who will vote to decide which product has the greatest potential business impact for credit unions.

The Networking

From a networking perspective, there’s nothing quite like these conferences. What other event puts CIOs, branch managers, IT directors and sales executives in one place? The possibilities of connectivity are incredible, and attendees are eager to meet new professionals.

The bottom line is that these conferences represent an incredible opportunity, so let me suggest a final T: Take advantage of it.
