In living out their philosophy of “people helping people,” SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union is partnering with Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), now part of Rady Children’s Health, in support of CHOC’s newly opened Southwest Tower, an innovative nine-story ambulatory building designed to enhance care for children and families across Southern California.

“We are deeply grateful to SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union for this extraordinary investment in CHOC’s future,” says Jessica Miley, senior vice president and chief development officer, CHOC Foundation. “Their partnership will help us create a welcoming, healing space for children and families, and it beautifully reflects the community spirit and sense of responsibility that guides everything SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union does. They are true partners in our mission to bring hope and healing to those we serve.”
A commitment to serve
Founded in 1934, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in the nation serving school employees and the largest in California, with nearly 1.5 million members. In addition to serving the financial needs of California’s school employees and their families, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union supports and celebrates the educational community they serve through decades of charitable giving and volunteerism.
“We are deeply committed to supporting CHOC and its mission to deliver world-class pediatric care. By nurturing, supporting and safeguarding children’s health, we address the broader factors that influence well-being, offering care that goes beyond medicine to improve the overall quality of life for children and their families,” states Bill Cheney, chief executive officer, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. “This new facility will provide essential comfort, healing and hope to thousands of families in need, and we are profoundly honored to be a part of making this vision a reality.”
SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union has supported Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, the charity of choice for credit unions, through partnerships with regional children’s hospitals throughout California Sover the past two decades. They have supported CHOC’s greatest needs, including neonatal care and child life, a program that strives to normalize the hospital environment for patients and their families so they can focus on healing. Besides their philanthropic support, SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union’s team has been a fixture by consistently volunteering their time at CHOC Walk in the Park, CHOC Gala events, Halloween festivities and activities such as assembling holiday care bags and serving meals to patients and families.
