High fives & human vibes

human

Let’s talk about your people.

Most employees?

They can do hard things.

(Like actually hard, not just “my Wi-Fi is slow” hard.)

They can pivot mid-chaos, juggle five projects, two meetings, and still remember Brenda’s birthday.

That’s talent.

They’ll dig in, roll up sleeves, caffeinate, and crank it out like absolute champs.

Every. Time.

And when given a chance to shine?

Honey, they soar.

Like majestic, spreadsheet-generating eagles.

I know what you’re thinking.

I hear you in my brain space:

“Then why don’t they, Nanci?”

*Insert You’ve lost that loooooovin’ feeeeelin’... 🎶

Here’s the kicker:

You’re not watching.

You’re not noticing the tiny tap-dances your team is doing just to keep the beat.

You can’t expect people to put their best foot forward...

...when you ignore their fancy footwork.

That’s not a generational thing.

That’s a human thing.

And I can hear someone way in the back (probably Steve) grumbling:

“We’ve got to handle these new folks with kitten gloves…”

Stop.

This isn’t about kitten gloves.

This is about kindness, respect, and basic gratitude.

(Three things that have never gone out of style, by the way.)

Somewhere between productivity goals and lunch breaks,

we forgot how to say, “Hey. That was awesome.”

Now someone always pipes up with:

“People want an award for everything these days.”

Wrong.

People want acknowledgment.

A small, authentic, “I see you.”

Because that can be the fuel that keeps them going.

We’re all pros at the “It has come to my attention…” speech.

(So formal. So ominous. So . . . exhausting.)

But when was the last time you said,

“Hey, the way you handled that spreadsheet? Absolute sorcery.”

That is special.

Because not everyone can wrangle Excel without breaking into a sweat.

(If I did it, you’d have numbers turning into German and charts screaming in Wingdings.)

And don’t get me started on the Canva queens, the welcomers-in-chief, the meeting whisperers.

STAND UP.

Take a bow.

We see you.

Here’s the deal:

We got busy.

We forgot that small wins matter.

That pebbles still ripple.

And that celebrating those ripples keeps the whole pond alive.

This isn’t about ribbon culture.

It’s not a gold-star participation parade.

It’s about being human.

Honoring humans.

So we can keep moving mountains, financially or otherwise, in the people-helping-people spirit.

Together.

Collectively.

Like the jazz band of joy and effort we were always meant to be.

Because outside these walls, the world is a lot.

Scroll your feed.

Watch the news.

People are tired.

And inside the walls?

They still show up.

They still try.

Because they hope.

Because someone smiled at them in the break room.

Because someone said “thank you” in a real voice, not a mandatory HR tone.

That’s the magic.

So I’ll ask you this:

How are you celebrating the ripples?

How are you keeping the flow alive?

How are you making work feel just a little more . . . worth it?

No win too small.

No moment too ordinary.

You never know who needed that kindness today.

And friend, if no one’s told you lately…

You’re crushing it.

Now go tell your people they are too.
