Credit union industry leaders meet to strengthen credit union movement

WASHINGTON, DC (September 11, 2025) |

Today, Scott Simpson, CEO of California, Nevada, and Utah credit  union leagues and incoming President/CEO of America’s Credit Unions (ACU), and Anthony  (Tony) Hernandez, President/CEO of the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC), met over  breakfast to discuss the future of the credit union movement.

Both Simpson and Hernandez highlighted the opportunities to strengthen communications,  expand growth, and advance advocacy as the industry looks ahead.

“Although I don’t officially begin my role until November, I appreciate the chance to connect with  DCUC early. I know America’s Credit Unions values opportunities to work with all organizations  across our industry. By building stronger collaboration and unity, we can amplify our collective  voice and better serve our members,” said Simpson.

“I enjoyed having breakfast with Scott today,” Hernandez added. “There are plenty of  opportunities for DCUC and ACU to harmonize our efforts as we collaborate on behalf of our  member credit unions and system partners.”
