ALBUQUERQUE, NM (October 2, 2025) |
Today, Sunward Federal Credit Union announced the next evolution of its Leadership Team, reflecting the Credit Union’s commitment to redefining the spirit of cooperative banking throughout the Southwest.
Building on a successful rebrand in late 2024, Sunward recently expanded its physical footprint, acquiring the New Mexico-based assets of Mountain America Credit Union and opening a new branch in Durango, Colorado. The Credit Union has also advanced its digital offerings, introducing new member rewards programs and a modernized online experience.
Now, as Sunward’s growth continues, new leadership talent will help carry forward its people-first, community-centered approach to banking.
Sunward has welcomed two new executives, both with extensive experience in financial services.
- Whitney Anderson has joined Sunward as Chief Growth Officer, building on over a decade of experience as a credit union executive. In this role, Anderson will drive brand growth both inside and outside the Credit Union.
- Christopher Danvers has joined Sunward as Senior Vice President of Payments, Products, & Partnerships, where he’ll build the foundation for growth through solid operational processes and industry-leading products.
Alongside Anderson and Danvers, Sunward has promoted three leaders into expanded roles.
- Matthew Reidy will serve as Chief Experience Officer, responsible for reimagining and modernizing the Sunward experience in-branch and online. Reidy previously oversaw the Data & Strategic Planning functions for the organization.
- Dennis Wood has been promoted to Vice President of Innovation, where he’ll spearhead data-driven insights and innovative programs, including one centered on the use of AI.
- Chad Berbert is now Vice President of Strategy, a role focused on ensuring long-term success for the credit union. Berbert will champion the voice of Sunward members to create meaningful results.
“We’re driven by our people — the members we serve every day and community partners who constantly inspire us. Our leaders ensure we deliver exceptional service while bringing our bold vision to life, day in and day out,” said Sunward Executive Vice President Alex de la Cruz. “We’re thrilled to welcome Whitney and Christopher to our leadership team full-time, and we can’t wait to see the energy and vision Matthew, Dennis, and Chad bring to their new leadership roles.”
Sunward’s expansion will continue with new branches opening in the Albuquerque metro area and enhanced digital offerings that bring more value to members every day. Combined with deeper community partnerships, innovative products, and exciting events, Sunward is improving its member experience and charting a clear path for the future.
