Y-12 Credit Union announces a new partnership with Greenlight® Financial Technology, Inc. (“Greenlight”) to support families in building strong financial futures for the next generation. Y-12 Credit Union members will now have complimentary access to Greenlight’s award-winning financial literacy application for families, offered through the Greenlight for Credit Unions program.
A recent survey shows that 91% of kids and teens believe financial skills are essential to achieving their life goals, and 94% of parents agree. However, only 35 states currently require a personal finance course for students, and teens score an average of 64% on the National Financial Literacy Test. Parents also rank personal finance as the most difficult life skill to teach their children, with 81% wishing they had more tools and resources to support them.
Greenlight provides a debit card and mobile app designed to help kids and teens learn how to earn, save, give, and spend wisely, under parental supervision. With the app, parents can quickly send money, automate allowance, manage chores, set spending controls, and monitor real-time transactions. Kids benefit from hands-on financial experience and access to Greenlight Level Up™, a gamified financial literacy program with curriculum-based challenges and rewards.

Survey insights were collected by Greenlight through a Researchscape survey conducted March 22–24, 2024, among 2,310 U.S. respondents, including kids and teens ages 10-19 and parents of 10–19-year-olds.
