Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) proudly partnered with the Tulare County Office of Education to sponsor the School Safety Symposium, held April 16 and 17 at the Visalia Convention Center.
The event brought together more than 350 school administrators, first responders, and community partners to address today’s most pressing school safety challenges. Through keynote presentations, breakout sessions, and panel discussions, attendees explored practical strategies related to active shooter response, threat assessment, gang activity, and student support systems.
“Supporting safe, healthy learning environments is fundamental to student success,” said Elizabeth J. Dooley, EECU president and CEO. “We’re proud to partner with the Tulare County Office of Education to bring together educators and public safety professionals for meaningful conversations and practical solutions that help protect our schools and communities.”
The symposium featured keynote speakers Dominic Syracuse, a behavioral specialist and communication expert, and Christian Moore, founder of WhyTry Inc., who shared insights on building resilience and strengthening connections with students. Additional sessions led by law enforcement and education professionals provided real-world perspectives on crisis communication, juvenile justice, and victim support.
“This symposium brings together school administrators, first responders, and safety experts to share best practices in keeping students and staff safe,” said Tim Hire, Tulare County Superintendent of Schools. “Partnerships with organizations like EECU help make this important work possible.”
