SAN DIEGO, CA (April 17, 2026) |
Mission Fed Credit Union, the largest member-owned, not-for-profit, full-service financial institution exclusively serving San Diego County, has announced changes to its volunteer Board of Directors slate. Effective immediately, Tina Douglas has been appointed to the Board of Directors, following eight years of service on the Mission Fed Supervisory Committee. Douglas replaces Dr. Kamran Azimzadeh, who retires from the board after a combined 34 years of service.
Dr. Azimzadeh previously served as the chair of the Mission Fed Supervisory Committee for 26 years prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors in 2018.
“Kamran’s career was dedicated to serving school districts throughout San Diego County, bringing strong financial knowledge and an innovative mindset to both his tenure in education and serving Mission Fed. Our members benefited greatly from his time on our board,” said Doug Wright, president and chief executive officer at Mission Fed. “We thank him immensely for the thoughtful time and service he provided to making our credit union better during his many years of leadership.”
In his own words, Dr. Azimzadeh said, “As a volunteer board member of Mission Fed, I was able to see first-hand how this financial institution continues to grow and give back to the community. I am honored to have been part of an organization that is dedicated to helping its members achieve their financial goals.”
Tina Douglas is a respected school business leader with over 36 years of K-12 education experience, providing strong leadership and fiscal management to public education. Her primary goal has been to assist school districts in developing fiscal strategies needed to sustain academic achievements for all students.
She currently serves as the assistant superintendent of business services at the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District, where she leads the finance, risk management, payroll, purchasing, transportation, facilities maintenance and operations, plus child nutrition services departments and well as human resources operations and systems. Prior to La Mesa-Spring Valley, Douglas served in similar roles for the San Dieguito Union, Santa Ana, Westminster, Ramona and Vista Unified school districts. Douglas began her career at the San Diego County Office of Education holding a variety of finance and accounting roles.
“Mission Fed has been fortunate to have Tina’s expertise, professionalism and dedication to our schools as chair of our supervisory committee, and we look forward to benefiting from her deep commitment and expertise on our Board of Directors,” said Wright. “Her in-depth knowledge and financial acumen complements Mission Fed’s roots as an education-based credit union seeking to provide solutions for all to succeed in our community.”
Douglas’ involvement and dedication to the field is also evident in her many volunteer roles. She has held a variety of positions over the last 18 years for the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO), including serving as state president. She also is an instructor for the CASBO Business Executive Leadership Program and serves as a mentor to aspiring chief business officials throughout the state. She also served as a board member of the Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association (VEBA).
Douglas earned her Master of Education in School Business Leadership from Wilkes University, where she also participated in the chief business officials mentor program and received her Chief Business Officials (CBO) certification. She holds a bachelor of science degree in Accounting from University of Phoenix. Douglas also participated in the Finance Directors and Small District Managers Academy Program at the San Diego County Office of Education, and has served as a mentor in the University of Southern California’s school business management certificate program for the last seven years.
In her own words, Douglas said, “I am honored to serve on the Mission Fed Board of Directors and continue supporting an organization that is deeply committed to financial empowerment and community impact. Throughout my career in public education, I’ve seen firsthand how access to strong financial resources can change outcomes for students and families. I look forward to contributing to Mission Fed’s continued success in serving San Diego.”
Douglas will serve in an interim capacity until May 2027, per board guidelines. Mission Fed’s nominating committee is currently evaluating potential candidates to replace Douglas’ seat on the supervisory committee.
