Serve Credit Union, in partnership with First Community Trust, N.A. (FCT), announced the distribution of $18,700 through its Charitable Donation Account (CDA), part of Serve Credit Union’s community giving program, Serve with Purpose. The initiative reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to disciplined philanthropy and meaningful community investment.
The CDA, administered in collaboration with FCT, enables the credit union to allocate charitable funds through a structured and governance-led process.
This year’s distribution will support 11 nonprofit organizations, selected by the credit union’s Board of Directors through a formal review process. While each organization addresses different needs, all play an important role in supporting the communities where its members live, work, and volunteer. Through these donations, Serve Credit Union is investing in organizations that create meaningful, lasting impact across Iowa.
“This distribution reflects our commitment to supporting those making a difference,” said Serve Credit Union CEO, Jami Weems. “Our goal is to support those who serve our communities, including our members and the causes they care about, while helping strengthen the impact of their efforts.”
The Board of Directors played a key role in selecting the recipient organizations, helping ensure funds are directed responsibly and in line with the credit union’s priorities.
The CDA allows the credit union to set aside and distribute charitable funds in a flexible but structured way. Through its partnership with FCT, Serve continues to include charitable giving as part of its overall financial and member-focused approach.
“As financial institutions think more intentionally about how they give back, tools like the CDA help make that process more consistent and transparent,” said FCT’s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Claypool. “This partnership shows how thoughtful investment management can directly impact to real needs in the communities credit unions serve.”
Serve Credit Union will continue supporting local organizations through its charitable giving efforts with distributions occurring every 5 years through their “Serve with Purpose” Community Giving Program.
