Cornerstone League recognizes Texas Trust Credit Union for innovative PR campaign

ARLINGTON, TX (June 29, 2026) |

Texas Trust Credit Union has captured top honors from the Cornerstone League for its "Fueling Kindness" initiative, securing the prestigious award within the Public Relations/Community Involvement category.

The industry competition drew nearly 140 entries across 27 diverse categories, including annual reports, crisis communication, digital marketing, newsletters, and more. Out of the vast field of marketing submissions, the Cornerstone League presented 72 total awards to celebrate exceptional creativity and strategic acumen within the regional credit union community.

The award-winning Texas Trust campaign was built as a short-term, high-impact event designed to directly mitigate the financial burdens of soaring gas and grocery prices. Prioritizing authentic community empathy over traditional advertising, the credit union deployed 20 employees and executive leaders – including the CEO – to a local gas station for one very busy hour. Staff members were at every pump to greet customers and fill their fuel tanks, using the time to engage in genuine, face-to-face conversations.

The strategic execution achieved immediate results by fueling 77 vehicles in 60 minutes, helping nearly 80 families commute to work or school with a little less financial strain. Texas Trust distributed $3,100 in direct monetary aid through a mix of surprise $100 bills for food costs and $25 gas cards. The team spent 20 staff hours on direct community engagement.

“Receiving this recognition from the Cornerstone League highlights what can be achieved when an organization leads with the heart and a neighbor-first philosophy,” said Toni Nichols, AVP of External Communications & Events for Texas Trust Credit Union. “Fueling Kindness allowed our team to bypass traditional marketing and provide spontaneous, tangible relief straight to families feeling the pinch. This honor validates our commitment to high-impact volunteerism and making meaningful, emotional connections within our community.”

The recognition marks another major milestone for Texas Trust Credit Union, which has recently earned the Mastercard "Doing Well by Doing Good" award and a spot on Newsweek’s "America's Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2026" list.
