Hundreds served at Breakwater FCU’s Annual Member Appreciation Cookout

Houghton, MI (June 29, 2026) |

Sunny, warm weather drew an estimated 400 community members to Breakwater Federal Credit Union’s Annual Member Appreciation Cookout on Friday, June 26. Guests enjoyed free Vollwerth’s hot dogs and brats, face painting, activities for children, and giveaways for members of all ages.

This annual event serves as an opportunity for Breakwater to thank its members for their continued support while celebrating the relationships that define the credit union. The cookout brought together individuals and organizations that we’ve collaborated with over the years, and gave us the opportunity to connect, celebrate, and strengthen the ties that keep Breakwater deeply rooted in the Copper Country.

"We are grateful for the trust our members place in us and proud to serve the communities we call home," said Paula Megowen, President and CEO of Breakwater Federal Credit Union. "As a member-owned financial cooperative, our mission is to positively impact those we serve by building lifelong relationships, one member at a time. Events like our annual cookout allow us to celebrate those relationships and thank our members for their continued support."

With perfect grilling weather and a great turnout, Breakwater was proud to welcome hundreds of members and their families for this much-loved annual tradition. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. It’s one of our favorite ways to thank our members and connect with our community.
