DES MOINES, IA (November 14, 2013) -- Chris Harvey, executive assistant to the CEO of The Members Group (TMG), has been named vice president of the Des Moines chapter of Executive Women International board of directors. The chapter’s vice president also serves as president-elect, which positions Harvey to serve as president of the board during the 2014-2015 program year.
Harvey’s passion for improving the professional lives of women is well-supported by Affiliates Management Company, TMG’s parent company, which counts 226 women, including two female CEOs, among its workforce of 277. Shazia Manus, TMG’s CEO and immediate supervisor to Harvey, is an active member of the World Council of Credit Unions Global Women’s Leadership Network. The company is also lending support to international female credit union leaders, sponsoring U.S. visits for deserving credit union women who demonstrate financial need and a dedication to a career in the credit union movement.
“Putting real energy behind growth and professional development for women at all levels of our industry is something we are very excited about as an organization,” said Manus. “Chris, with her leadership role in Executive Women International, will be an important source of innovative ideas for TMG to continue acting as an advocate and supporter for all professional women.”
Executive Women International is composed of nearly 70 chapters in the U.S. and Canada with more than 2,300 representatives. Its founder, Lucille Johnson Perkins, recognized the importance and potential of bringing key women together to promote their firms, improve their communities and develop their leadership skills.
Since then, more than 2,000 companies and 2,300 representatives have joined, forming a prestigious and exclusive networking organization of key firms and individuals.
The Des Moines chapter was chartered in 1971 with the required 25 member firms. The following charter firms are still active supporters of the chapter: Iowa Credit Union League, Josephs Jewelers, Renaissance Savery Hotel and KPMG. The chapter holds monthly meetings and offers opportunities for networking and relationship building.
