ARLINGTON, VA (December 20, 2013) -- The National Institute of State Credit Union Examination (NISCUE), the educational foundation of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS), recently elected Jeff Dahlstrom, co-president and CEO of Southeast Financial Credit Union in Tennessee, to serve as its chairman. Dahlstrom succeeds John Kolhoff, NASCUS chairman and director, Michigan Office of Credit Unions.
“A well-trained credit union examination staff is a prerequisite for an effective financial institution regulatory agency and for a dynamic and healthy credit union system,” Dahlstrom said.
NASCUS President and CEO Mary Martha Fortney congratulated Jeff on his new position as NISCUE chairman. “Jeff is a respected longtime member of NASCUS, and we are grateful for his commitment to NASCUS,” she said. “We look forward to, under his leadership, continuing to provide superior quality training and education to state credit union examiners and state credit union managers and staff.”
NISCUE sponsors professional training programs specifically designed by and for state credit union department examiners and senior staff. Through these programs, state credit union departments can receive quality training at an affordable cost. This training is offered regionally and addresses different needs between states. NASCUS credit union members contribute funds to NISCUE to underwrite the cost of examiner training. This funding structure ensures that training can still be offered regardless of economic conditions.
The NISCUE Trustees are: Chairman Jeff Dahlstrom, Southeast Financial CU, Tenn; Secretary/Treasurer Chris Mykelbust, Colorado Division of Financial Services; Tom Candon, Vermont Department of Financial Regulation; Kim Santos, Wisconsin Office of Credit Unions; John “JD” Fields, Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions; Patty Idol, Mountain CU, Tenn.; and Mary Martha Fortney.
