Defense Credit Union Summit speaker slate grows at NAFCU’s 47th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo in Las Vegas

WASHINGTON, DC (July 9, 2014) -- Vice Admiral Norbert Ryan (Ret.), president and CEO of the Military Officers Association of America , and Joyce Raezer, executive director of the National Military Family Association, have joined the distinguished slate of speakers at NAFCU’s Defense Credit Union Summit. The summit is held in conjunction with the association’s 47th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo, which takes place July 22-26 at The Venetian Las Vegas Casino, Hotel & Resort.

“The insight Admiral Ryan and Ms. Raezer possess will be vital to defense credit unions as they look for ways to meet the unique needs of servicemembers and their families,” said NAFCU Military Liaison Quincy Enoch. “Attendees at this year’s summit will learn best practices and discover the latest innovations to better serve their existing and future credit union members.”

The summit will also feature remarks from keynote speaker Holly Petraeus, assistant director of the Office of Servicemember Affairs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The summit, sponsored by NAFCU Services Corporation, is scheduled Tuesday, July 22.

NAFCU Annual Conference general sessions begin July 22 and will include “Waiting for ‘Superman’” figure Geoffrey Canada and leadership innovators Dan Rockwell and Lee Wetherington.

Additional conference speakers include National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman Debbie Matz; Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives Director William Myers and Office of Examination and Insurance Director Larry Fazio; Fannie Mae Senior Vice President and Chief Economist Douglas Duncan; and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Operations James Watkins.

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger and other top association staff will also lead a “kick-off conversation” addressing the top regulatory and legislative issues with attendees on opening day.

Further conference highlights include:

  • six educational tracks designed to help credit unions identify new income opportunities, the latest credit union trends, best practices in risk management and more;
  • the Solutions Expo, the hub for the latest technologies, applications and resources available to help improve credit union operations, featuring the Preferred Partner Pavilion – a select group of leading solutions providers;
  • theater sessions in the Solutions Expo presented by Preferred Partners, featuring strategies for successfully integrating technology and more;
  • the Small Credit Union Roundtable, a town-hall style session led by NCUA’s Myers to discuss issues and opportunities exclusively for credit unions with less than $75 million in assets;
  • the CEOs’ Forum, Chairs’ Caucus, Senior Management Forum and Directors’ Q&A, where participants can discuss concerns and share ideas with their peers;
  • numerous opportunities to network with credit union professionals; and
  • spouse/guest program options, which will involve two days of excursions and networking experiences.
