DENVER, CO (October 30, 2014) – Denver Community Credit Union has been awarded the Community Impact Award by the Mountain West Credit Union Association Foundation. The award is given to the credit union that best demonstrates one of the founding principles of the credit union movement, “people helping people.” One way this is demonstrated is through commitment and dedication to the community it serves.
Denver Community Credit Union’s Clear Money program has been making a positive impact on members through solid financial teaching presented in easily accessible formats. The program helps with classes, counseling and other resources that help members face the challenges of budgeting, saving and emergency planning.
“This award is a testament to ongoing commitment to putting our members first,” said Carla Hedrick, President of Denver Community Credit Union. “This program helps provide financial education in a manner that is both accessible and usable, which are two key factors for success.”
The Mountain West Credit Union (MWCUA) Foundation presented its annual credit union industry awards, including the Community Impact Award, at the 7th Annual Star Gala held September 26. The Foundation is the charitable organization supporting 132 credit unions in unions in Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming, the states served by the Mountain West Credit Union Association.
Foundation executive director Dr. Dan Santangelo said, “Every year, this program rejuvenates us because we see the founding principles of credit unions in action. Denver Community Credit Union continuously puts its members’ well-being at the forefront of their thinking and we congratulate them on this award.”
