First Capital Federal Credit Union in conjunction with The York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL), held a Career Exploration Day. Thirteen sophomores, juniors, and seniors from area high schools came to First Capital’s headquarters for a look inside the financial industry.
We began the day at 9:00 a.m. with an introduction and tour of First Capital. Students had the opportunity to meet with various staff who help make the credit union run. From IT to Accounting, the students learned how every position works together to contribute to the Credit Union’s success. After the tour, students heard from a career panel. The individuals on the panel talked about their career path and how they got to where they are today. Then, our team discussed the differences between banks and credit unions and students played an interactive game, “Who wants to be a First Capital member.”
After a break for lunch, we discussed budgeting and students took part in a budgeting activity. The day wrapped up around 1:30 p.m.

Students enjoy hearing about the careers within the Financial Industry and each panelist’s own career journey.
