Xpress Data, Inc., a leading provider of print and electronic document services for credit unions across the country, announced that its annual Credit Union Chili Challenge will generate a record-breaking $25,000 for charity this year. Last year’s event put $15,000 in the hands of worthy charities.
“All registration fees go directly to charity and we make up the rest,” said Xpress Data, Inc. founder Mike Cooper. Cooper added that the $25,000 will be donated to charities designated by the winning teams. “That way, we can be sure we’re donating to the charities that are important to credit unions,” he said.
Cooper also pointed out that increasing the prize money will result in donations to a wider range of charities. Prize money will be distributed as follow:
XDI's CUCC | ICS Judged | People's Choice | Best Booth | Showmanship | Social Media | Total |
1st | $6,000 | $4,000 | $1,000 | $1,000 | $1,000 | |
2nd | $4,000 | $2,000 | ||||
3rd | $2,500 | $1,000 | ||||

Total | $15,000 | $7,000 | $1,000 | $1,000 | $1,000 | $25,000 |
In previous years, chili prizes were only award for first, second, third and People’s Choice.
The annual event, which is sanctioned by the International Chili Society, will be held August 4 at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racetrack in Del Mar, Calif.
“When you combine great chili with great people, you end up with a great networking opportunity,” said Cooper. “And through the People’s Choice award, every attendee has a say in which charity receives a portion of the prize money.” Anyone interested in competing or attending can find additional information at www.xdi.com/ChiliChallenge.
