Canvas Credit Union Offering Government Shutdown assistance

In response to the Government Shutdown and the impact it is having on the Colorado community, Canvas Credit Union, a local Colorado credit union, has implemented a new program to offer support to those who need it most. As the current Shutdown becomes the longest in U.S. history, Canvas is standing up to better offer relief to those government employees who are negatively affected.

Through the creation of their new Helping Hand Loan, a special signature loan designed to assist members who are caught in difficult situations such as the Shutdown, Canvas seeks to offer a silver lining to their members. The loan offers unique features to help those affected, such as no payments for 60 days and special lower interest rates.

“We care very deeply about our members, and this is an opportunity where we can step-up and really show it,” said Tansley Stearns, Chief People & Strategy Officer, “Our goal of helping our members afford life means jumping in and providing a helping hand during times of need. We are committed to our family.”

In addition to the Helping Hand Loan, Canvas is providing deferment options for members with existing loans who are impacted by the shutdown. All Canvas branches, as well as their Communication Center, are offering this support to government employees in need of assistance.
