Orange County’s Credit Union announced it was recently honored with the 2019 Peter Barron Stark Companies’ Award for Workplace Excellence, an award recognizing organizations that are committed to creating excellent company culture based upon employee feedback. Moreover, Peter Barron Stark Companies named the Credit Union one of the Best-of-the-Best organizations, a recognition given to those whose results exceed the Best-of-the-Best benchmark, which represents the top 25% of companies surveyed.
Orange County’s Credit Union’s survey had an overall satisfaction score of 92.9, 7.8 percentage points above the Best-of-the-Best benchmark, and a 96 percent response rate from its 316 Associates. This is the fourth instance the Santa-Ana based Credit Union has been the recipient of the Award for Workplace Excellence. They received recognition in 2008, 2013, and 2016.
The Peter Barron Stark Companies’ Award is a prestigious honor given to organizations that utilize the Employee Opinion Survey program and exceed an overall favorable response of 80 percent. Unlike other workplace awards that are typically determined by a total number of votes, this award gauges workplace satisfaction through employees’ opinion and provides companies essential comprehension on sentiments received. The survey requires transparency with a goal to help an organization improve employee engagement and areas that include process improvement, communication, teamwork, and leadership.
“We are beyond honored to have received an award from Peter Barron Stark Companies for Workplace Excellence,” shared Shruti Miyashiro, President and CEO of Orange County’s Credit Union. “We have an incredible group of people at the Credit Union and are thankful to work alongside individuals who genuinely care about each other just as much as they care about our Members. It’s this level of care that creates an environment where Associates love to come to work and leads to fulfillment in the workplace.”
Over the last 23 years, Peter Barron Stark Companies has conducted more than 300 Employee Opinion Surveys with over 100,000 employees annually on topics that address work environment, clarity of purpose and goals, communication, commitment to quality, motivation, training, and compensation. Award recipients, about five to eight companies per year, are mainly companies that value employee engagement when recruiting and attracting high-quality employees who are interested in maintaining workplace excellence. As for PBS’s Best-of-the-Best Organizations, one area where leaders in this category excel in is communicating timely and pertinent information regarding changes. Organizations in the Best-of-the-Best Benchmark are rated 18 points higher when it comes to communicating changes in a timely manner.
